Your Catholic Greece Tour Itinerary
Read the itinerary below to learn more about each destination and get an in-depth look into this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a Catholic tour of Greece.

Embark on your spiritual journey as you depart for Greece from your local airport. Meals and drinks served aloft.
Please Note:
While this itinerary is rooted in Catholic tradition and follows in the footsteps of St. Paul the Apostle, the experience in Greece places greater emphasis on the historical and scriptural significance of his mission. Due to Greece’s predominantly Orthodox Christian heritage, opportunities to attend Catholic Mass during the tour are limited.
There are occasions where we are not able to follow the 9 day itinerary exactly. We will make every effort to follow it but it’s important to use this as an indication of events and not a contract of events and places to be visited.

Upon landing at Makedonia Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), retrieve your luggage and be warmly greeted by a Glimmer Tours representative. A short transfer takes you to your hotel in Thessaloniki, where you can relax and rejuvenate. Conclude the day with a delightful dinner and a restful night at the hotel.
Overnight in Thessaloniki

We will begin the day with Mass at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Afterwards, we will set out for Philippi, a city of immense biblical significance. This is where Apostle Paul delivered a landmark sermon and laid the foundation for the first church in Europe. As scripture recounts, "And from there (He went) to Philippi, which is the leading city of the district of Macedonia... We remained in this city some days" (Acts 16:12-18). Reflect on the significant event when Lydia was baptized by Paul, recognized as the first Christian convert in Europe. Navigate the ancient paths of the Roman Forum where Paul, with divine intervention, rid a woman of her tormenting spirit. Ponder the stories echoing from the crumbling walls of the prison, where Paul and Silas were once held.
As the afternoon unfolds, venture to the coastal beauty of Kavala. Previously known as Neapolis, this city bears witness to the momentous occasion when Saint Paul, alongside Silas, Luke, and Timothy, first set foot in Europe. Absorb the maritime charm of Kavala before journeying back to Thessaloniki, where you'll be greeted with a comforting dinner and a night of rest.
Overnight in Thessaloniki

Our day begins with a journey into Thessaloniki's biblical legacy. In the winter of 49-50 A.D., Apostle Paul penned two epistles to the Thessalonians, urging Christians to live righteously while awaiting Christ's return. As you tour the city, marvel at historic sites like the Arch of Galerius at the onset of Via Egnatia, once a pivotal route of the Roman Empire, constructed to honor Emperor Galerius after a significant Roman victory.
The journey continues to Veria, where you'll encounter the ancient synagogue where Paul preached, as well as the Bema adorned with mosaics and scriptures. The day draws to a serene close as we continue to Kalambaka for dinner and a restful night's sleep.
Overnight in Kalambaka

Please note the dress code for today: women should wear skirts below the knee, and men should wear pants.
The day begins with a scenic drive to the breathtaking Meteora Monasteries. In the eleventh century, monks initially settled within caves. However, the advancing Turkish occupation compelled them to relocate their settlements atop the rocks, ensuring they remained inaccessible to foes. The creation of these monasteries involved transporting materials using ladders and baskets.
These monasteries are renowned for preserving both the Hellenic religion and valuable academic and artistic treasures. As you explore, take in the awe-inspiring Byzantine art and the panoramic landscapes that cradle the monasteries. The journey then continues to Delphi, with its ancient mystique, where you'll dine and rest for the night.
Overnight in Delphi.

Today, we explore Delphi, often regarded as the center or 'navel' of the ancient world. Its influence and significance extended beyond the confines of the Hellenic realm. Set against the backdrop of Mount Parnassus with its breathtaking beauty, find the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Explore this remarkable site and its museum before journeying to Athens, one of history's most illustrious cities and a cradle of western civilization.
Upon arrival we will celebrate Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Denis the Areopagite. Conclude the day with dinner and a restful night’s sleep in your Athens accommodation.
Overnight in Athens

Today we make our way to ancient Corinth, a place where Paul's teachings echo through the ruins. Wander through the ruins of the marketplace where Paul worked and preached; stand before the Bema where he stood trial before Gallio; and visit the Fountain of Peirene, once the lifeblood of ancient Corinth. Under the shadow of Corinth's towering Acropolis, reflect on Paul's profound letters that emphasized the theme of love.
After lunch, we return to Athens to begin our exploration of one of the world's oldest cities. Stand atop the Acropolis and witness the ruins of the Parthenon, Erechtheion, and Propylaea. Next, you will ascend Mars Hill, the site where Apostle Paul delivered his message to the Athenians about the one and only God (Acts 17:22). From atop the hill, gaze upon the ancient Agora, the heart of Athenian life that encompassed politics, commerce, religion, and culture.
We will proceed with a drive through the city to view iconic structures like the House of Parliament on Syntagma Square, the University of Athens, and the National Library with its rich collection of Greek manuscripts. You will also have the opportunity to see the Panathenaic Stadium, an architectural masterpiece carved from marble, which hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
The day concludes with dinner and a restful night’s sleep.
Overnight in Athens.

Today we travel to the port of Piraeus and take a short ferry ride to Aegina, a charming island known for its traditional Greek architecture and relaxed atmosphere. Upon arrival, you’ll find yourself in the heart of Aegina town, with colorful buildings and quaint streets inviting you to explore.
After lunch, you’ll return by ferry to Athens in the afternoon to enjoy some free time for personal activities, whether shopping or exploring.
We return to our hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
